Bombay Durpun - Britain's Kerr wins men's Ultimate 1,500m

Kerr, fresh from setting a new world record in the mile, hit the front with 300 metres to run.

He held his nerve to hold off a surge by Australia's Cameron Myers to clock 3min 29.35sec to walk away with the winner's cheque for $150,000.

Diamond League winner Myers, 20, came in second, at 0.33sec.

A trio of Americans followed: Hobbs Kessler, Olympic champion Cole Hocker and Yared Nuguse, Olympic bronze medallist.

A fast start in fornt of a sell-out 20,000-strong crowd saw Germany's Robert Farken surge to the front.

The US pair of Hocker and Ethan Strand were on his tail as Kerr, wearing sunglasses, bade his time towards the back.

Nuguse moved to the front of the pack, with Kerr also moving up through the field and third at the bell for the final lap behind the American and Farken.

Kerr made his move down the back straight, hitting the front with 300 metres to run.

Myers was sucked through on his coattails, but the Briton had enough to see off the 20-year-old.

One notable absentee from the race was Norway's Jakob Ingebrigtsen, who won the 5,000m here but withdrew from the 1,500m.
